In today's review, I'm taking a look at Comica's Boom XDMI1 wireless microphone kit. This kit is unique in that it has a receiver unit that plugs directly into your phone, making it easy to use without the need for extra cables or clips. I decided to try out the iPhone version of the kit, but Comica also offers versions for Android and USBC devices.
When I first opened the box, I was impressed with the sleek design of the transmitter and receiver units. The microphone on top of the transmitter is small but powerful, and the receiver unit easily fits onto the end of my iPhone. The kit also comes with a lavalier microphone, a pop filter, and a USBC charger for the units.

One thing that I didn't like about the kit was the lack of a carrying case. All of the other wireless microphone kits that I've reviewed have come with some kind of pouch or case to keep the units safe when traveling. Without one, it can be a bit of a hassle to carry around all the pieces.
I decided to test the microphone at a concert at the Hollywood Bowl to see how well it could handle a noisy environment. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sound. Even in the loud concert, the microphone was able to pick up my voice clearly without any distortion.
Next, I took the kit on a hike to see how it would fare in more natural settings. Again, the microphone performed well, picking up my voice clearly even when I was moving around. The lavalier microphone is small and discreet, making it easy to wear without being too obtrusive.
I did run into some noise problems, including some clicking sounds, that might prove problematic for the discerning user. Watch my video for more details.
